Course Description
Gain the skills to be a more effective leader and get the most out of the
management side of your job-managing people, meetings, finance, quality and
organizational politics.

Objectives
-
To expand your knowledge of financial statements, strategic plans, and the
operating budget.

To use the language of finance to more effectively communicate with CFOs and
administration.

To introduce you to the economics behind the importance of leveraging the
revenue cycle and managing the cost structure of the hospital.

To understand how financial perspective is being tied to important
"non-financial" data as part of a comprehensive set of dashboard indicators
pertaining to the evaluation of hospital performance.

To define roles and responsibilities of the medical staff, medical staff
leaders, and the MEC.

To determine principals of an effective credentialing and privileging program
and bring to light privileging myths and realities.

To identify and clarify the roles of physician leaders in reducing medical
errors and establishing quality of care.

To identify current approaches to performance improvement currently used in
healthcare including peer review, establishing performance expectations, and
feedback reports.

To understand small group dynamics and organizational politics and how you can
use this information to more productively manage meetings and lead groups.
